Research and Publications
Alfred Health Radiation Oncology is actively involved in ongoing research and in providing continuing education and development opportunities to all staff. Most staff are involved with training and education in some way.
Our research is led by the Director, Adjunct Associate Professor Jeremy Millar and Deputy Director, Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor Sid Davis.
Our programs include:
- Radiation Oncology Registrar (Specialist training) lectures
- Radiation therapy lectures, student placements, internships and work experience
- Medical physicist undergraduate lectures, post graduate courses
- Undergraduate and postgraduate courses for medical staff, radiation therapists, physicists and nurses
Our department strives to provide care in an evidence-based manner using the multi-disciplinary resources available at our teaching hospital. This is demonstrated through our commitment to participate in clinical trials and research. We are actively involved in both national and international trials, many of which are in conjunction with other Alfred departments or with Monash University. The department staff collaborate with many groups, not just in clinical research, but in clinical care, clinical audit and in projects to study and to improve patient information and support.
